Encouraged International Stablecoin Adoption
As Coinbase is introducing more stablecoins beyond USDC and EURC, we wanted to create better experiences for international users to increase foreign trading volume. For this project, I worked closely with cross-functional teams to navigate the ambiguity of this high-level goal.

Learnings & Takeaways
Designers are the advocates for users
Cross-functional teams look at problems from different lenses. As designers, we approach problems from the users' perspective and defend for them. By prioritizing user feedback, I was able to address real pain points, such as high trading spreads and unclear benefits. This allowed me to create solutions that truly resonate with users' preferences and concerns.
Look at problems from end-to-end before zooming in on specific touchpoints
Initially, the experiment on lowered spread aimed for a quick design change, but I realized the need to step back and assess the entire user journey. This end-to-end perspective allowed me to identify multiple key touchpoints that could influence user decisions. This approach helped me identify more product opportunities and informed the next steps towards achieving the high-level objective.
Align and communicate with cross-functional partners early and frequently
Collaboration was essential throughout the stablecoin project. Regular communication with cross-functional teams, including product managers, legal, data science, marketing, and neighbor design teams, ensured that everyone was working towards the same goals and agreed on each decision we made. This early and frequent alignment helped navigate constraints and made decision-making smoother and more effective.
